You’ve seen the memes. Spring hasn’t been cancelled. Love hasn’t been cancelled. And guess what… engagements have not been cancelled, either!
That ring is probably burning a hole in someone’s pocket and they might not want to wait any longer to start their journey to the big day.
Why not start your beginning to the rest of your life today?
If you, your friends, or family members want to throw a virtual engagement party, here are a few ways to do it!
Get the word out — you’re engaged!
In the same way that you’d send an invite for your engagement party, treat it like the real deal. Either send a virtual email invitation, or get a printable invitation template to send out via snail mail (it’s a great time to surprise people with good mail days.)
Keep it close.
We’ve found that the most successful video calls don’t have more than 20 people on them. Keep this virtual celebration to your closest family and friends for a more enjoyable (and audible) video party.
Schedule a video call with a start and end time.
In lieu of your location, include the link to your video conference. You probably have your favorite platform by now, but Google Meet and Zoom are some of the industry standards. Include an end time, and don’t feel like you have to hang out all night on the call. 30 to 60 minutes might be plenty to do a couple of toasts and thank your family and friends.
Bring your drink of choice for the toast.
On the invitation or email, encourage guests to be ready with their champagne, local brew or sparkling water. Support a local business by purchasing their carry-out food and beverage options. Tap some of your closest people to give a toast. Make sure to welcome and thank all of your guests as you would at a “normal” party.
Enjoy the moment.
Seeing the faces of others during our time at home (and especially during a special moment like engagement) goes a long way. Sit back and celebrate the moment now, knowing that there will be plenty more memories to create and times to celebrate throughout your entire engagement! And know that we, too, want to be there for you on your journey so you can capture each moment with The Engagement Journal. Cheers!
