Celebrate National Wellness Month with Season

Celebrate National Wellness Month with Season

August has been my favorite month for as long as I can remember. My birthday and wedding anniversary are both in August. I absolutely love the warmth and sunshine of summer. And there was always a feeling of excitement in the air as I went back to school, college, or wherever the change of seasons had me venturing off to next.

August is National Wellness Month, and I am so excited to add this to the list of reasons why I love this time of year. At Season, we talk a lot about relationship health and wellness. But what really precedes this is your wellness. Without it, any relationship – with friends, family, spouses – could become more challenging or strained. And you might not even realize the cause.

Over the years, self-care has taken off as a movement. And with anything in life, it’s a practice that we have to keep coming back to and working towards. Everyone is different. I’ve learned that people have different levels of what exactly they need for themselves — not dissimilar to how introverts and extroverts need different things to come alive, to recharge, to be their best selves. Find out what you need and we hope you’ll feel energized and ready to enjoy life with the people you care about.

Wellnessmonth.com, the website dedicated to this movement, explains wellness month is a nationally recognized month dedicated to self-care, creating healthy routines, and stress management. How will you participate this month and show up for yourself? What is it that you need today, and can you make it a healthy routine for tomorrow? Let us know in the comments!

Here’s a look into what the Season Journals team does to practice self-care and healthy routines. We hope you join us this August and beyond!

Journaling and yoga
“I use journaling to process my emotions and use yoga to release stress!” —Lauren

Running and reading
“Running literally clears my mind — if you find me on a route I’ll probably have to ‘snap out of it’ to have a conversation! Reading, on the other hand, calms me down and brings me stillness and relaxation.” —Annette

Counseling and limiting screen time
“Counseling has helped me learn how to better express and manage emotions like stress and anxiety. One of my goals is to get a real alarm clock and sleep with my phone away from my bed! I’d like to limit screen time and see how it effects my sleep.” —Tara
