On Navigating Change
I’ve been talking to a lot of people lately — friends, neighbors, customers, fellow founders — and so many people seem to be navigating some sort of change right now. It’s also the time of year for graduations, weddings, births, and post-school year moves. With these occasions, there can be a lot of unanswered questions on the horizon.
So I wanted to write and record this week’s Mindful Edit Newsletter and Podcast to focus on a few simple ways we can better navigate change in seasons of transition.
The next time you finding yourself in the midst of some uncertainty, try one of the three simple tips in the Try It section below.
I hope that whatever it is you’re navigating this season, remember to take care of yourself and your well-being.
Be well,

Action Items
1. Recognize that having two conflicting feelings can be true, and held, at the same time.
Excitement and fear. Gratitude and grief. Allow yourself to feel what you feel, and don’t put yourself in a tidy box. Change is complicated, and your emotions are allowed to be as well.
2. Find an anchor for when things get hard.
Come up with something that serves as an anchor point or a grounding mechanism for you, that allows you to feel some sense of stability and control. It can be a comfort meal, a morning routine, a walk with your dog.
3. Take small steps toward your next move.
Changes can be big, daunting, complex problems that don’t have answers neatly spelled out for you. Start to train yourself to make small decisions from a place of self-trust and cautious optimism. One foot in front of the other.
